Woman rearrested for multiple instances of child sexual abuse – now including rape

When the man in his 60s, who was previously a manager for a municipality in Skåne, was rearrested last week, the suspicion against him had increased from child pornography offences to also include incitement to child rape – that is, he prompted someone else to commit child rape.

The suspicions against the woman in her 40s have also increased now.

– She is also in custody for child rape. But it is not the same suspicion as during the first arrest, says Zebastian Liljegren.

The prosecutor wanted to arrest her already in mid-November for that crime too; however, at that time the District Court assessed that there were not enough grounds for arrest. She was, however, detained for two cases of gross exploitation of a child for sexual posing as well as two cases of child molestation – crimes of which she is still a suspect.

Could there be more suspects in this case?

– It's not something I can or want to comment on at the moment.

The prosecutor now has four weeks to bring charges or request new detention hearings, says Zebastian Liljegren, Prosecutor.

– It is extremely unlikely that I will be able to bring charges on January 5 as well. I do not see us being done with this investigation any time soon. We have many interviews to carry out and other investigative measures that will take time.
