Visiting ban at retirement homes to be lifted on October 1st
From October 1st the visiting ban at retirement homes across the country will end says the Minister for Health and Social Affairs, Lena Hallengren (S), at a press conference. But there will be rules for how visits should be carried out. And from October 1st, the ban on visiting patients at the hospital will also be lifted.

Many elderly people have been badly affected by the visiting ban at retirement homes. At the same time, the aim has been to prevent the infection from getting into the homes.
– The spread of infection is lower now and there are also better hygiene routines and opportunities for testing in the homes, says Hallengren.

But the danger is not over. There is a great amount of responsibility on the person visiting.
There will be rules for how the visits should take place in practice, when there will be outdoor visits, when they can be indoors and in which premises. There may be a requirement to book an appointment for visits in advance.
There may be bans on visiting certain retirement homes.
The visiting ban has been in force since April 1st.
