Sofyan Aswad: Sofyan Aswad: ”It looks like being a cold, white winter all over the country”

Time rolls on. Suddenly it's December. Darkness and cold creep up on us earlier and day by day. But despite the early nightfall it is a time of light.

Now white has taken over in nature. Snow began falling unusually early in the south of Sweden.

I've been in Sweden for about six years.Until now I've never had such a cold, with a high temperature for several days.

It is unusually cold. It bites your cheeks. Naimakka, in Kiruna municipality, had minus 43.8 on 6th December. That is the lowest temperature measured in Sweden in December since 1986. Then Stenudden in Lappland had minus 45.0 degrees, say SMHI.

Children dream and count the days until Father Christmas and lots of sweets. There are lots of winter stories my grandmother used to tell me when I was small. I always tried to imagine the things she said, how Father Christmas came in the cold winter with presents he dealt out to the children. And the long-awaited story of the Christmascat outside, and lots of other stories.

The snow and the cold weather came early this year. In Norrland it was minus 43.8 degrees on 6th December.

”I've never been able to celebrate Christmas along with my friends when it has snowed”

All these days have gone. I still remember the Christmas feeling that comes with the snow. In Syria it was unusual to have snow.

I've never been able to celebrate Christmas along with my friends when it has snowed. This year it looks as if my dream will come true.

Everything looks fluffy and clean. It looks as if it will be a cold, white Christmas in the whole country.

What's more, I'm longing to see my mother and my two brothers in France. We haven't met since the pandemic broke out.

Lastly I must mention that Kristianstadsbladet + Norra Skåne have become one newspaper in two editions.

– Readers will get a more comprehensive picture of what is going on in north-east Skåne. We're going from being competitors to being one and the same, says Maria Sällberg, who is in charge of the web.

Kb Mosaik will appear as usual next year. The next paper edition will come out on 5th February.

We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Keep your distance and take care of each other..
