Now the health authorities in Region Skåne are making an appeal for more people to be vaccinated. Among patients in hospital the majority are between 30 and 60 and unvaccinated.
”Do something about it now – go and get vaccinated!”Alf Jönsson, regional director
– We must win this match against covid-19. The only thing that helps is vaccination. That's the path we must follow to get back to our ordinary way of life. So go and get vaccinated, for your own sake, for the sake of those you love, for those who work in schools, in care, in hospitals, in collective traffic. Do something about it now – go and get vaccinated! says regional director Alf Jönsson.
Covid-19 continues to spread. During the latest two-week period Skåne has had 153.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Four weeks ago the figure was 70.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
”It is mostly the unvaccinated who fall ill or seriously ill and have to be taken into intensive care”Mats Molt, assistant hospital director at CSK
Most of the people who become infected are young and unvaccinated.
– It is mostly the unvaccinated who fall ill or seriously ill and have to be taken into intensive care. So you should be able to draw the conclusion that the vaccine is effective in combating the illness, says Mats Molt, assistant hospital director at CSK.
On 31st August more than one 30-39-year-old of four in Skåne had not been vaccinated. Among younger people the figure was even higher.
84.9 percent of 40-49-year-olds have had at least one injection.
Sveriges Radio reports that Skåne is second-worst in the country when it comes to vaccinating people in their upper teens. About 50 per cent have had their first injection.
