Paludan may hold gathering in Kristianstad – but is forced to change location
According to the application, Paludan wanted to burn a Quran and show a drawing of the Prophet Muhammad. The application states that Rasmus Paludan also wants to demonstrate "against Islam in Sweden".
– Part of his application has been refused in terms of location. According to the application, the gathering would be held on Frostgatan, says police Spokesman Robert Loeffel, however, in view of safety and public order, it’s out of the question.
Instead, the permit applies to Residensgatan in the centre of Kristianstad between 13.00 and 15.30 on Sunday.
– The police have allocated resources to manage the gathering on Sunday and any possible backlash. In Region Syd, we are quite accustomed to these types of situations, says Robert Loeffel.
On Wednesday, the municipality called on parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children and young people via the school portal Unikum. This is in view of Rasmus Paludan's visit on Sunday.
"Make sure that your child does not get involved in any possible disturbances when the demonstration takes place," the municipality writes in its appeal. The appeal was sent from the local Drug and Crime Prevention Council.
