SMHI (The Swedish Met Office) has gone out with a notice of high temperatures. It will be at least 26 degrees for three days in a row, which can cause problems for people in risk-groups.

From Wednesday until the end of the week temperatures may rise above 26 degrees in Skåne, apart from Österlen, SMHI reports. This means a maximum temperature over a 24-hour period of 26 to 30 degrees for at least three days.

The heat puts extra stress on the body, which can cause problems for those in a risk-group.

If the temperature reaches at least 30 degrees for three successive days, SMHI’s notice will be upgraded to a warning.

The heatwave means that geriatric care will be even more seriously affected because of the corona pandemic. SVT Nyheter reports that a number of municipalities have no emergency plans if the weather becomes as hot as in the summer of 2018.
