Difficult fire to extinguish in industrial area – suspected arson
At 10.51 pm, the emergency services received a call about a fire in an industrial building on Mossvägen. Four units with eight to nine cars from Kristianstad, Tollarp, Arkelstorp and Hässleholm were sent to the scene. Fourteen firefighters worked with smokejumpers. Nobody was injured in the fire.
– The fire apparently started outside and then spread to the building, says Jimmie Ask, Internal Officer with the emergency services Skåne northeast on Sunday.
It was a large brick building that was on fire.
– The fire was difficult to extinguish, it took several hours, says Jimmie Ask.
He also says that there was a risk that the fire would spread to the roof and to other buildings. At 3 am on Saturday night, the fire was extinguished.
The scene has been cordoned off. Forensic technicians will carry out an investigation on Monday. The police suspect that the fire was deliberately set. The fire caused major damage to the building and a truck.
