Big police turnout – driver refused to stop

At lunchtime on Friday people in the town could see a helicopter hovering above them. The reason? A driver who was trying to get away from the police. Now the man is suspected for several offences.

The police wanted to make a control of a driver in Näsby. The man in the car refused to stop. He kept on driving. So the police summoned several police cars to force the car to stop.

– The police were going to make a control of a car in Näsby. He tried to drive away from the patrol, and then it all ended up in the middle of Kristianstad, says Mikael Persson, officer in charge at the police station in Kristianstad.

Taking part in the chase were several vehicles, including one with a dog, a trafik patrol car, an emergency incident car, and a helicopter.

The car chases came to an end outside the District Court in Kristianstad.

The driver is now suspected of driving while under the influence of drugs and aggravated careless driving.

The man, who was born at the end of the ´90´s, was taken into custody by the police after the chase. He is to be questioned, and must leave samples. He and the car are previously known to the police.

– The car has ben seen earlier in connection with careless driving, says Mikael Persson.
