82 panels stolen from solar park
The solar park will soon be finished. It will be one of Sweden's largest solar parks with an output of 4 megawatts. But on Saturday night it was victim to theft.
– They have moved the jersey barriers on the road to the ”Lägsta Punkten” and driven behind there with a vehicle. They then cut the fence up and got in that way, says Rickard Månsson from C4 Energi.
The thieves have unscrewed panels from the bottom row. They took 82 panels. Each panel is 435 watts, measures 2 x 1 metres and weighs 20-25 kilos each.
Göran Thessén, CEO of C4 Energi, thinks the theft is unfortunate. But he says that the solar park will begin operations as planned in October.
– It's clear that we have to focus more on how we should protect ourselves in the future, he says.
The stolen solar panels are marked with serial numbers, so they are completely traceable.
