18-year-old high school student stabbed – preschools locked their doors
At 08.48 on Wednesday, the police and ambulance were alerted to Österäng in Kristianstad.
A man had been stabbed outdoors near the centre of Österäng.
– The man alerted us himself and told us that he had been stabbed, said Evelina Olsson, the police's spokesperson in Region Syd, shortly after the alarm.
The case has been classified as a suspected assault. On Wednesday, Kristianstad municipality issued a statement regarding the incident:
“The injured person is a student who attends Österänggymnasiet and the student has been taken to hospital. The incident is not school-related and we have made an assessment that there is no threat to the school, staff or the students”, writes the municipality.
The principal of Österänggymnasiet, Nina Olin, says:
– There was an agreement that this student would not be at school, she says without going into the background of it all.
– We have spoken to the police, with the student concerned and other students during the day and taken note of all the information they have. What we have found is that the crime was directed at the individual student and not at any group of students or us as a school, says Olin.
How is the student?
– He received a gash to the face so there is no danger to his life and that is comforting to know.
