16 detained in Hässleholm's gang war
In a press release, the police state that with the three most recently detained, a total of 16 people have been arrested and detained on separate occasions in the autumn. They are suspected of aggravated weapons offences, aggravated drug offences, attempted murder and incitement to attempted murder. Several weapons have also been seized in connection with this.
Those arrested and detained are known to the police previously, and the police believe that the conflict between the two criminal networks involved has its origins in drug trafficking.
– It is highly satisfactory that we have achieved good results so far. But we will continue to keep up the pressure against the criminal networks, we are not finished, says Niklas Årcén, who is Head of the Hässleholm police district.
The three people who were detained on Friday, 2 December, include a 25-year-old man and a teenage boy who are suspected of inciting attempted murder in connection with the attempted murder on Skolgatan in Hässleholm in October; as well as a 25-year-old woman who is suspected of aiding and abetting attempted murder.
Of the 16 detained during the autumn, one has been detained for two crimes: a 25-year-old man is suspected of both an aggravated weapons offence in the Tjörnarp area at the beginning of September and an attempted aggravated drug offence in Hässleholm at the end of the month.
The gang war, or the criminal conflict as the police refer to it as, has been on-going since last spring. The first arrests of three people who are suspected of attempted aggravated weapons offences was made on September 12.
