New waste bin gives signal when it’s full

More rubbish in the waste bins and less rubbish on the ground. The new smart waste bins give a signal when they are full. In May, ten new waste bins will be put out in Kristianstad.

The smart waste bins squeeze and compress the rubbish. It is solar powered. Therefore, five times as much rubbish fits in them.

When the waste bins get full, they send a signal to those responsible in the municipality.

- It's very smart. Above all, it’s very environmentally friendly. We don't have to go out and see whether the waste bins need to be emptied or not, says Sten-Olof Häll, Planning Engineer at C4 Teknik.

The municipality will start with ten smart waste bins, both in the centre and elsewhere.

- We look at where they are most suitable and where they will be most effective.
