Inga-Lill Bengtsson: Inga-Lill Bengtsson: ”The sign Everything will be all right gives hope”

Football has at last started up again, but concerts and big events have been cancelled. Spring turns into summer, but nothing is as usual. From 13th June we can travel around again in Sweden – if we are healthy and keep our distance.

Despite everything- Skåne has a lower covid-19 death-rate than Denmark, Stockholm or the Göteborg region. Now we must be careful not to relax. We are all part of the solution – that means, we must still keep on washing our hands, keeping our distance and staying at home if we feel a bit under the weather.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered about the corona virus, who is affected and why. Robin, aged 27, was in good health and enjoyed life, but he died of corona. Read about him on page 16.

In our last issue we wrote about Mowlid Aden who was worried about how he could isolate himself if he or anyone in his family became ill.

One of our readers has reacted to the article.

– Very good. I haven’t read any good articles about immigrants for a long time. Out here at Gamlegården we only hear bad things about what goes on here, it says in an e-mail.

We say ”Thank you” for these words. Kb Mosaik has had reinforcements for some time. Taghreed Aljbawi, a journalist from Syria, is here three days a week to gain practical experience. Read her fine chronicle on page 20. Ellinor Ekdahl is studying to be a journalist at JMG in Göteborg. She has spent two weeks here as a trainee and has contributed several articles, including one on Jesin Moalla in Hässleholm who opened a driving school. Then corona struck and he couldn’t get any clients.

– I‘m not afraid to take a chance, and I always look on the bright side. I don’t give up so easily, he says. Read about him on page 18.

Have you any good ideas for improvements in the municipality? Rolf Sjöberg has walked all 1,200 kilometres of Skåneleden. He thought there should be a stretch through Vattenriket, so he made a ”citizen’s suggestion” to the municipality, and now his suggestion has been realised. Read more on page 12.

”Active summer” at Charlottesborg has spread to Gamlegården and Österäng as well this year. 60 young people can take part. A good way to give the young people a belief in themselves – and in the future.

Ibtihaj Alarini, a cook at Näsbygården nursery school, submitted a recipe for a dessert to Kb Mosaik two years ago. Now she is one of ten nominees for the White Guide Junior award, that is, for the best cook for children.

Ibtihaj can make the most uninspiring ingredients look cute, funny and tasty. In September we’ll know how things went. We’ll keep our fingers crossed and wish her the best of luck.

Finally a few words about the unusual signs in Östra Göinge. In Knislinge there is one with the words ”Carpe Diem” – read more on page 15. I think the sign with the words ”Everything will be all right” inspires hope. Something to keep in mind when we celebrate midsummer and enjoy the warm weather and the light.
