Incident on JH Dahlsgatan: 26-year-old is psychologically disturbed
The trial for the high profile case ended a month ago.
Kristianstad District Court decided that the 26-year-old defendant should undergo a forensic psychiatric examination in Gothenburg.
The assessment is that the 26-year-old was seriously psychologically disturbed when he committed the crimes and also during the investigation. He, therefore, needs psychiatric care.
There is a risk that the 26-year-old will commit new serious crimes.
The District Court has previously concluded that there is convincing evidence against the man that he is guilty. Next week, the District Court will decide whether he will receive a jail sentence or psychiatric care.
In August 2019, the 26-year-old abducted, locked up and stabbed a newspaper carrier. He then broke in, naked and armed with a knife, into a girl’s home and then into a disabled man’s home. The man was assaulted with his own crutch.
Forensic Psychiatric Care
Care for people who have committed a serious crime, if he or she suffered from a serious psychological breakdown when the crime was committed.
Forensic psychiatric care can take place with or without a special discharge review. In a discharge review, the Administrative Court decides when and if care should cease or be extended, when / if the patient should be granted leave and more.
