This was the information given by Region Skåne in its update on the corona situation on Monday. Smittskydd Skåne reports that about 30 new cases have been discovered in the age-group 18–20.

– In that age-group we can see a tendency towards an increase in the spread of infection, says Marianne Alanko Blomé, deputy disease control officer.

A lot of people have celebrated the end of their studies in recent weeks.

– Taking the incubation period for covid -19 into consideration we can expect an increase in the number of cases among young people in the near future, says Marianne Alanko Blomé.

Region Skåne has increased the number of tests carried out, and that leads to more infections being discovered.

– We are following developments closely. With midsummer coming up, we want to emphasise that it is important not to drop our guard. Perhaps we should consider our plans for midsummer, keeping this in mind, so that we all can do our bit, says Marianne Alanko Blomé.

– This applies generally for the summer – don’t forget to follow the guidelines. Keep your distance, wash your hands and stay at home for the slightest of symptoms. If you are young, you probably won’t be seriously ill, but you can infect others who can be.
