Emilia’s childhood friend suspected of murder
The detention hearing was held behind closed doors. The 20-year-old denies the crime. He is suspected on probable cause (the higher degree of suspicion) of the murder in Tollarp between November 22nd and December 3rd.
– Her body sustained major injuries. It has been ruled out that she inflicted the injuries to herself, says Chief Prosecutor Jenny Lindell.
The crime scene is by the river where she was found.
What is the relationship between those involved?
– They have grown up together and are friends.
It was on Tuesday the 3rd of December that 20-year-old Emilia Lundberg's body was found in Vramsån by the marine police.
A few hours later, the 20-year-old was arrested in absentia. The day after, the police arrested the man.
He has previously been convicted of drug offences, knife crimes and minor weapons offences, crimes that occurred in 2018 and 2019. This year, Kristianstad's District Court sentenced the 20-year-old three times, the most recent occasion being on the 20th of November, two days before Emilia Lundberg disappeared.
The murder suspect denies the crime. The 20-year-old’s defence lawyer Melka Kjellberg says he himself is heartbroken over what happened to Emilia Lundberg.
– What he has said himself, being a wise young man, is that the most important thing is that everything is investigated so that you find out what has happened, says Melka Kjellberg.
