The fear of the disease is great. This weekend, the 1177 Healthcare helpline was flooded with calls by worried individuals.

– Many calls are just to seek information. This means that those who are sick and need to come forward perhaps aren’t doing so, says Chief Medical Officer Görel Nergelius to SVT Nyheter.

The risk of the infection spreading in Sweden is currently deemed as moderate. Testing is done only in cases of suspected covid-19 – but an appointment is required.

Outside the infection clinics in Malmö and Lund, there are tents set up where testing takes places.

– But we’re trying to make it easier for people with mild symptoms so that they can be tested without having to enter the premises. We have done tests outdoors, including in cars, says Staffan Banke, Operations Manager for the infection clinic at CSK.

Infected people will be looked after at the infection clinic.

– There we are used to patients with airborne infections and droplet infections. We have four infection clinics in Skåne that have the best possible cooperation, says Staffan Banke.
