MOT test fails test – must close

Is it time for your MOT-test? Take a close look at where you can do it – two stations in north-east Skåne have had to shut down.
This is the first time since 2016 that an MOT certification has been withdrawn.
– It's quite unusual, says Kristina Hallman, Swedac.

Dekra MOT-testing has about 80 stations in Sweden, including Helsingborgsvägen in Hässleholm and Blekingevägen in Kristianstad.

On 1st December the owners, Dekra Automotive AB, lost their license. This means that they can no longer carry out MOT-tests.

”We see that the firm''s work is unsatisfactory on several points. so it does not come up to the standard that is required,”

Facts

Swedac

A system of controls which ensures that, for example, lifts are safe to use, cars have brakes in working order, scales in shops weigh correctly and tap water is fit for drinking.

Swedac is a public authority which licenses businesses and organisations which carry out controls. For example in atomic energy, the car industry, IT, the health sector, the food industry, criminal investigations and environmental control.

Swedac examines everyone who has been licensed, that is, they see to it that controls are properly carried out.

”The decision is based on a number of assessments carried out over a long period of time.”
Kristina Hallman, Swedac

Kristina Hallman, head of the licensing department, says:

– The decision is based on a number of assessments carried out over a long period of time.

Dekra has appealed against the decision to a number of authorities, but without success. On 28th December Dekra withdrew its appeal.

The firm has applied for a new license. It has made a number of changes and improvements, it writes on its homepage. As soon as Dekra gets the go-ahead, the station will open for bookings.

”In 2016 Swedac withdrew CleanCar's license, but since then there has been nothing on this scale”
Kristina Hallman, Swedac

Kristina Hallman is unable to say when Dekra can open again.

–There are not so many instances that carry out MOT tests, just a few, so to withdraw an MOT certification is quite unusual. In 2016 Swedac withdrew CleanCar's license, but since then there has been nothing on this scale, she says.

Footnote: Kristianstadsbladet has tried to contact Dekra, but without success.
