Kasem hero after road accident: ”If I'd come along a minute later she would have been burned alive”
The roads were icy, it was in the middle of the night, in December 2019. A woman in her 30s was going to drive from Osby to Lönsboda. She is unable to say exactly what happened next.
East of Boalt (near Rönneboda brook) she drove off the road and into a tree.

The car started to burn. First in the engine, but the fire spread. Inside the car was the woman, shaken after the crash. She tried to get out, but was unable to open the door. She tried to open the other door.
Kasem Ajan and a few other people see what is happening. Several people are there before him, but nobody is doing anything.
– I shouted to them. They said they couldn't do anything because the car was on fire, Kasem said when questioned.
– They didn't want me to help the girl, they were afraid something might happen to me, for the car was on fire.
He runs forward, breaks the window on the passenger side and gets in to the woman in the car.

The fire spreads further and further into the car, but he never feels afraid.

There is a lot of blood coming from her jaw, she has got concussion, her chest has been crushed, one of the vertebrae in her spine has been hit hard and there is internal bleeding.
He takes the woman to his car, where his wife and daughter and a neighbour are sitting. They wrap her in a blanket and try to give her some water. But she is unable to drink, her mouth is too badly injured.
Meanwhile the fire is spreading, and soon the car is completely ablaze.

The woman tested positive for amphetamine. So Hässleholm district court convicted her of driving while under the influence of drugs.She was fined 8,400 crowns and sentenced to pay 800 crowns to the Criminal Victims' fund.
