Intestinal bacteria at two bathing sites - not suitable for swimming
Östra Göinge municipality recently took samples from the water at Tydingesjön's campsite and in Sjöhagen, which is also located by Tydingesjön.
”We still don’t know where the bacteria is coming from”Aida Prague, Head of Environment and Sustainability
Even then, samples showed that the water was unsuitable for swimming. New test results came in last week. They still show that the water contains bacteria, that is, it’s unusable. The municipality advises against swimming.
There are signs posted with information that advises against swimming.
– It’s the same kind of intestinal enterococci in both places. We still don’t know where the bacteria is coming from, says Aida Prague, Head of Environment and Sustainability.
Intestinal enterococci are a sign that the water has been contaminated, for example with bird droppings, wastewater or drainage from the ground after rain. There may also then be other bacteria, viruses or parasites that you can get sick from.
At Gummarpsbadet there have been problems with algae.
– If you see that there is a lot of algae in the water, don’t swim.
