Decision: Väskolan to be reviewed and new management recruited
Rönnowskolan's principal Mathias Dettman, among others, will step in while the review is pending.
Two principals left Väskolan after the spring term; one of them was bought out. The two new employees quit in August after four weeks. Kb/NSk has written several articles regarding this.
The concern that has arisen regarding the situation – among staff as well as pupils and parents, resulted in the Chairman of the Children and Education board, Daniél Tejera (L), putting forward a proposal last week for an external review of Väskolan.
On Tuesday, a the committee unanimously supported the proposal and now they hope to begin an investigation as soon as possible, explains Daniél Tejera.
– How could two newly recruited principals choose to quit after just a few weeks? It is remarkable and this is the core issue of this review, says Tejera.
Ulrika Tollgren (S), Vice Chair of the board, shares this view.
– It is a good idea that this is carried out.
According to the decision, the review must "focus on the school's leadership, organisation, pupil safety and quality work".
The investigation is to be procured immediately and begin as soon as possible. It will be complete by the beginning of next year at the earliest and will then be presented to both the Board and management.
Criticism has been expressed from staff at Väskolan, among others, that cutbacks and lack of resources have led to a difficult situation. Will the review also look at this issue?
– It is possible that it will be uncovered during the review. The distribution of resources is the same for all schools; it is no different for Väskolan. But that's why I want the various factors to be mapped out and really get to the bottom of this, says Daniél Tejera.
While new principals are being recruited, a temporary principal organisation has been appointed, which consists of Mathias Dettmann, who is otherwise principal at Rönnowskolan, and Gun Lindvall, former principal at Spängerskolan. Extra administrative support has also been put in place.
