Yara has the ocean and nature in focus

Yara Abdou gets her motif from nature. She started by painting charcoal sketches, which then became water colours. Now she has her very first exhibition at Kulturhuset (the Cultural Centre) in Broby.

Yara Abdou fled Syria and came to Östra Göinge about four years ago. She became fascinated by nature. She grew up in a small village by a Mediterranean beach. That’s why she brought the love for the ocean with her.

- There are many different lines in nature that evoke ideas about different motifs, says Yara who is an architect.

She thinks it's exciting to experiment with colours.

- I have never painted with water colours before, but I love the natural nuances of the landscape, she says.

Yara works as an architect in Östra Göinge municipality. Her first job was to design the playground and the meeting place in the town square in Hanaskog.

Yara says that she has had great help with her first exhibition from the municipality's Cultural Manager Helena Zeberg.

- I am proud to be part of Yara's first opening, says Helena Zeberg.

Yara Abdou works as an architect in Östra Göinge municipality and loves to paint. Now her very first exhibition is on show at Kulturhuset.

The exhibition is open the same times as the library. It runs until the 20th of April.
