The bridge over Helgeå is to be renovated – reckon with queues
The bridge over Helgeå is in need of renovation, which will affect traffic for two months.

– We ask all drivers to show consideration for the people who must work under such exposed conditions, says Tor Åkesson, Trafikverket’s project leader.
Work starts on 15th May. One lane will be closed at a time. Traffic will be regulated by traffic lights.

He says that the life-span of new bridges is 80–100 years. The present bridge is from 1974.
The membrane coverage under the asphalt needs to be renewed.
– The life-span of the membrane coverage is 40–50 years, so it’s time for it to be changed.
The bridge will also get new edge girders and parapets, as well as a new asphalt surface, of course.
Normally the speed-limit over the bridge on road 119 is 40 km/h. While work is in progress the speed-limit will be lower.
