Huge fire in Kristianstad – ”It’s going to burn for a while longer”
The emergency services and ambulance were alerted about the fire at 3 am during the early hours of Thursday morning.
– When we arrived at the scene, the building was completely ablaze. There was not much we could do, says Dan Svensson, External Officer with the emergency services in Kristianstad.
The firefighters had to focus on preventing the fire from spreading to buildings next door.
– There was smoke from the facade of the old customs office, we probably came in the nick of time, says Dan Svensson.
15 to 20 firefighters from the emergency services in Kristianstad and Tollarp fought with the fire and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.
The building in question was used as storage space. It’s about 100 metres long and attached to an older wooden house. Both the building and the house burned down.
Nobody was injured. The police have filed a report on arson.
On Thursday morning the site was still on fire.
– It’s going to burn for a while longer. We’re keeping watch with two firefighters, says Dan Svensson.
