One of the most talked-about new authors this year, Elaf Ali, has been awarded Kristianstadsbladet's prize for culture and entertainment for 2021.

Her first book, ”Who said anything about love?”, is about her own childhood and adolescence in Fjälkinge and Kristianstad, and her struggle against honour repression.

In the motivation to the prize it says, among other things, ”For her personal journey into the past which will lead the way for many others into the future”.
– I've had great reactions, some from other people who have lived with this and have dared to take steps to change their situation. It was like that for me too. That others had the courage to open up gave me the strength to tell what it was like for me, says Elaf Ali.
