The woman who was shot three times says: ”I just sat there screaming”
Kvällsposten has spoken to ”Gun”, a woman in her sixties who landed in the middle of the shooting incident at Gamlegårdens Centrum one afternoon at the beginning of August. She had just posted a letter and was on her way to the pizzeria when she heard a number of shots being fired. One hit her left upper arm. Another hit her in the face - it went in through her cheek and smashed teeth in her upper jaw on its way out. A third hit her right leg.
”I've still got months of this ahead of me, my arm may never be the same again””Gun”
She did not see the person or person who fired the shots, her back was towards them.
– I realised what had happened and remember that I managed to get into the shopping centre, where I collapsed against a wall. I just sat there screaming. I thought, '”I've been hit”, and I wondered if I was going to die, she tells Kvällsposten.
Now, three weeks later, she is home again from hospital. Home to Gamlegården, where she has lived all her life. With the help of her partner she has started to make little attempts to go out . Because of the injuries to her mouth she has difficulty in eating. She takes strong medicines to be able to put up with the pain and she gets medical help at home three times a week.
– I've become a statistic. ”She was shot and she survived”, people will think. But there's such a lot left for me to come to terms with. I've still got months of this ahead of me, my arm may never be the same again. And I'm on sick leave with reduced salary. Therer's so much I have to do now, she says to Kvällsposten.
Besides ”Gun” two men were injured in the shooting. A man in his 20's was hit in the stomach. A man in his 30's was hit in the leg. Region Skåne said their injuries were serious.
