From the beginning, the majority coalition consisting of M, SD and KD, has been heavily criticised by the opposition for being "paralysed in action" and “lacking momentum". Despite having a majority, there have been very few initiatives from the Board.

The announcement that May’s municipal council meeting has been cancelled seemed to be the last drop for the opposition. Three of the six council meetings held since the summer recess have been cancelled: January, March and May. The reason stated is that there are too few matters to discuss.

Opposition Councilor Ulrika Tollgren (S) is clear:

– It’s very pathetic and shows that they lack vision and the power to act.

Not having enough matters to discuss is something that has raised the occasional eyebrow within municipal politics. The municipal council is also one of the most important forums where decisions and debates take place openly in front of the public.

– It is perfectly fine to cancel a meeting because there are no matters to discuss. In a way, it is responsible if it isn’t worthwhile summoning 65 MPs. However, you then have to ask yourself the question, why are matters not being put forward? No policies are being pursued, no proposals are being put forward – this is the only conclusion I can draw. There is a lack of vision and direction, they’re only reacting to what happens, says Daniél Tejera (L) and continues:

– It is a paralysed Board that does not pursue any of its own ideas. They do not show the council or our residents what they are working on.
