Snowfall expected to continue – wind is picking up: "Talking gale force"

The snow moved in over northeast Skåne early on Tuesday morning. Precipitation eased at 10am – but only for the moment.

Winds are expected to pick up during the day and expected to rise significantly towards the evening.

– It looks like it is going to be really windy during the day and increase in the afternoon and evening. Then it will subside quite quickly during the night, says Josefine Qvarnesjö-Bergstedt and continues:

– We are talking about gale force winds in the evening.

The snowfall is also expected to reduce after midnight.

– There may be 15-20 centimetres during the day, approximately.

Another 15-20 centimeters?

– Yes.

It looks like the night will be clear – and cold. As the snow is expected to remain, there may be a risk of slippery conditions locally on Wednesday morning.

– Then the minus temperatures and clear weather during the night will also lead to icy conditions. Wednesday seems to be a very nice day – the calm after the storm, adds Josefine Qvarnesjö-Bergstedt.

After that, even colder weather is expected. The current forecast for Thursday could be up to twelve degrees minus in some parts of northeast Skåne.
