SMS and false emails spread like wildfire

Fraud on the web, sms, cellphone and the social media is a widespread problem. Particularly at a time like Christmas or in a period of social distancing – Corona-time. ”My cellphone went crazy, I had to reprogramme it. Everything I'd saved for several years just disappeared”, one victim tells Kb Mosaik.

The police have issued a warning about false sms and email notifications which refer to a coming delivery. In the sms there is a link the victim is advised to click on to follow the delivery of a parcel.

One person Kb Mosaik spoke to says he got an sms telling him that he had won 10,000 crowns on his cellphone number, at Willys. Of course that wasn't the case.

”When I kept on reading, my cellphone started to receive hundreds of messages, I couldn't do anything about it”

– I got it from Coop too, but it was false. When I kept on reading, my cellphone started to receive hundreds of messages, I couldn't do anything about it, he says.

– I didn't dare use my bank-ID: I had to reprogramme my cellphone. Everything I'd saved for several years just disappeared.

If you click on the link, you risk importing Flubot into your cellphone. It's a trojan that can also be spread by apps such as QR and pdf scanners and training apps among other things.

The police write on Facebook that they have received calls from members of the public about frauds by fake sms messages.

The sms says that the recipient has a parcel to be picked up, or a prize, and it contains a link. If the recipient clicks on the link, this starts the downloading of the Flubot trojan. It tries to get at what is stored in the cellphone and send an sms:s with a similar content to the cellphone's contacts.

The advice the police give is never to click on links in an sms or email unless you are completely sure you know where they come from.

If you are expecting an order, you should always go back to the confirmation of your order and follow the information about delivery.
