S wants to introduce 10-minute guarantee for health centres and 1177

Not only do Social Democrats want to shorten queues to operations and hospital treatment, they also want people in Skåne to be able to contact health centres by phone within ten minutes.

A lot of what the Social Democrats in Region Skåne presented in their election manifesto was already known. For example they want to create another 3,000 jobs, improve working conditions to attract more employees, shorten queues and fulfil the terms of the health care guarantee.

”I think people in general are quite happy to have someone take their calls and give them further advice”

But something new is that S wants a ten-minute guarantee, which means that people who call a health centre or ring 1177 for advice will be dealt with within ten minutes.

– The time 1177 takes to answer has increased during the pandemic. On average, calls were answered in 17 minutes in 2019 and in 25 minutes in 2022, says Henrik Fritzon(S), leader of the opposition in Region Skåne.

In the first place the solution is to employ more people who can answer, not only nurses but also other categories of workers.

– It's a reasonable basic principle to have nurses answer the calls, but we mustn't be too rigid. I think people in general are quite happy to have someone take their calls and give them further advice, says Henrik Fritzon.
