Restrictions can be lifted in February: ”Lives and health still at risk”
– Lives and health are still at risk.We have an extreme spread of the infection, which seriously affects various areas including health care and care of the elderly, says Lena Hallengren, (S), minister of social affairs.
”Restrictions will still be necessary for the next couple of weeks.”Lena Hallengren (S),minister of social affairs
– Folkhälsomyndigheten judges that the restrictions we have can check the spread of the infection. A lot of people are infected, so we need to keep the restrictions in place for some time longer.
The infection has never spread faster in Sweden. Folkhälsomyndigheten estimates that half a million people become infected by covid-19 every week. But the number of unrecorded cases is high.
Folkhälsomyndigheten predicts that the infection will reach its peak within a few weeks.
– Restrictions will still be necessary for the next couple of weeks. If the situation has stabilised then, if we think the infection has peaked, and if vaccination continues, most of the restrictions can be lifted as from 9th February, says Hallengren.
Next week the government will issue more information about which restrictions are relevant and how quickly they can be phased out.
