Police investigating connection between fires in barber's shops
– Of course we're keeping that door open, says Anders Svenson, head of the serious offences division in Kristianstad.
The most recent fire started during the night between 12th and 13th March. The premises on Näsbychaussén were destroyed. The house adjoining the salon was also damaged. The police believe the fire was started deliberately and are treating it as arson.
”We're looking into both”Anders Svenson, head of the serious offences division
The police have interviewed several people. At the moment the investigation is awaiting the result of samples that were sent to NFC (National Forensic Centre). And the emergency services are making their own investigation.
During the night between 5th and 6th February there was a fire in another barber's shop just a few houses away. The salon is part of a bigger building, with different businesses and homes. The building had to be evacuated.
The police have confirmed that the fire was deliberate, that it can have started inside the building, and they are now treating it as a case of aggravated arson.
– Progress is a bit slower in that investigation. We'll see if we can get any further with it. It's an open question, says Anders Svenson.
Fires in two barber's shops on the same street in a short space of time. Do you see any connection?
– We're looking into both. Naturally we're keeping that door open as well. But I don't want to say any more than that.
