Opposition: Pulling down flats will change the whole place

No analysis has been made as to what effect the demolition of 111 flats will have on the community as a whole, according to Socialdemokraterna, who met tenants on 6th June. Among other things, people are worried about how it will affect the school.

Lena Johansson has lived in Hanaskog for 57 years, and in her flat for 12. ”It came as a shock to hear about the demolition. I have a very nice flat, and I want to go on living in Hanaskog, for I like it here. tt's mad if they're going to pull down the flats to build new ones, and throw out the people who are living here today'”. she says, here with Anders Bengtsson,(S), leader of the opposition.

Socialdemokraterna are critical of a proposal from Moderaterna, Centern and Kristdemokraterna (the so-called clover-leaf group), to pull down 111 flats in the Ringen quarter in Hanaskog.

”If they'd done it in Broby, there would have been an outcry”

– If they'd done it in Broby, there would have been an outcry. Now they want to demolish a whole block in an area of social deprivation, says Anders Bengtsson, (S), leader of the opposition in Östra Göinge.

What he is most critical of is that there have been no discussions about the demolition.

The clover-leaf group has decided it is to be pulled down. The least you can do is meet residents and speak to people living here, he says.

– 60 per cent of pupils in the school live here. This is going to change the whole community. They haven't made that analysis.

”It might be in Glimåkra or in Sibbhult. But I want to live in Hanaskog”

Ibrahim Al Hamo also wants to stay where he is. It's not too far for him to travel to work, and the children attend Kviinge school. Göingehem has said they will arrange alternative housing.

– It might be in Glimåkra or in Sibbhult. But I want to live in Hanaskog, he says.
