At 10:45 SOS received an alarm about several people who had been hit by a train in Tormestorp just outside Hässleholm. Several police officers, people from the emergency services and ambulances soon arrived at the scene.

The accident occurred at a railway viaduct. The persons are reported to have made their way up on to the railway tracks where they were hit by an SJ express train X 2000 from Malmö on its way in to Hässleholm.

– It's an extremely serious accident, said Patrik Freij, internal officer in charge at the emergency services in Kristianstad.

Alarm: People hit by train – one dead at least

A long stretch of the rail track was closed off. All train traffic was cancelled for several hours.

Shortly afterwards the same evening relatives had been informed. The police were able to confirm that three persons had died, one adult and two children.
