Night patrols start again at Gamlegården

It ought to be a matter of course to feel safe at Gamlegården – all day and every day, on the bus and in the shopping centre. So Kristianstad municipality, along with ABK, the police and the municipality's social field workers are co-operating on night-patrolling.

Now it is time for motivated parents and other adults to go out and about at night. Night patrols have started again at Gamlegården. The idea is to have night patrols all over Näsby.

– At the foundation nattvandring.nu an increase in the interest for night patrols can be seen just now. And that in spite of the corona pandemic, which has led to a temporary pause in some places because of the risk of infection, says Jan-Olof Nilsson from nattvandring.nu Skåne-Blekinge.

– We're not the police and we don't intervene, we're there mostly to be seen. Our being there can be a good thing as well to keep them from doing things they ought not to, he says.

The idea behind night patrols is partly to show that adults are there and see what is going on, and partly to have contact with the young people in the gangs.

Questions have already begun to drop in from people who are interested in taking part, and there is quite a lot of interest from people living in Näsby.

”We're glad that so many associations are interested in joining in on this valuable effort for the young people in Kristianstad”, says team leader Malin Månsson.

– We want everyone living here to feel secure and know that we as adults are always close at hand. It's important, as an adult, to be seen in the town and in other places where young people hang out, says team leader Malin Månsson.

– We're glad that so many associations are interested in joining in on this valuable effort for the young people in Kristianstad. A lot of associations will be taking part during the autumn.
