New Town Hall for the right price: Municipal Director managed to save 30 million
It is the same company that appealed against the first procurement, which Skanska won and where Skanska was involved in producing all the documents and designs for the construction; however, the municipality chose not to proceed with them as it was too expensive.
A total of four construction companies had submitted bids and the cheapest one was awarded the contract. The construction contract is estimated to amount to 84,995,000 crowns. The project comprises an office building covering an overall areas of 3,460 square metres. The building will accommodate 200 employees spread over two floors.
Municipal director, Merete Tillman, is also pleased:
- We are really looking forward to getting started on our construction, which when it is finished, will be both a modern workplace for our employees and a welcoming Town Hall for the citizens of Göinge, says Merete Tillman, Municipal Director for Östra Göinge, on the municipality’s website.
A two week appeal period will ensue and if no appeal is lodged, the municipality is expected to be able to sign a contract with Henrik Anderssons Byggnads AB on December 16. Construction is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2023.
Skanska won the procurement for the 80 million construction project in October 2020.
Henrik Anderssons Byggnads AB were runners-up and appealed the decision to the administrative court, which ruled in favour of Östra Göinge municipality in July 2021.
In April 2022, however, it was clear that the municipality and Skanska had parted ways.
- We needed to agree on the benchmark price and we didn't, explained the Municipal Director Merete Tillman at the time, consequently, a new procurement was required.
Henrik Anderssons Byggnads AB has now won this new procurement.
The new municipal building is estimated to cost 85 million crowns.
