New store in Sweden after 15 years – Kristianstad first in Danish furniture giant's drive
Tomorrow, Wednesday, it's time for the opening. at last.
– I've heard that Kristianstad is a very good trading centre, so we think it's a good place to start, says Per Mølgaard Pedersen, manager of Ilva's store in Kristianstad.
”It isn't worth having any bigger. A lot of our sales are via e-commerce”Per Mølgaard Pedersen, manager of Ilva's store in Kristianstad
The chain has only one store in Sweden, in Malmö. It opened in 2005. Ilva has 42 stores in Denmark. By 2023 there are to be eight new stores in Sweden.
Ten people are to work in the store in Kristianstad. It has an area of 1,800 square metres – just a tenth of the size of the one in Malmö.
– It isn't worth having any bigger. A lot of our sales are via e-commerce, so we want a combination of e-commerce and an actual store, says Per Mølgaard Pedersen, who used to be store manager at Ilva in Tårnby.
The store is at Härlöv, close to competitors such as Jysk, Trademax and Mio.
– There's a lot of competition, but I think that's a good thing. I think it's better that there is a lot, for then people know that it's here they should drive out to.
What can you contribute that is new?
– Danish colour and design differ slightly from the Swedish, Danish design is regarded very highly and is well-known all over the world.
Ilva sells living-room, dining-room and bedroom furniture as well as items for the garden and the household.
The store will open on 25 August, but on 1- 5 September there will be a Grand Opening.
