National bomb squad called out to suspicious object – parts of central Broby cordoned off
The alarm reached the police at 11:53. Then they worked at the scene until 7:30 pm.
At about three in the afternoon the national bomb squadwas able to destroy the suspected object which was lying in a paper bag. The newspaper Kvällsposten reports that the contents of the bag included a timer and flexes.

A wide area around a property on Tyringegatan had to be cordoned off. Many residents in houses and flats in the area were unable to go out, and those who were outside the barriers could not reach their homes.
David Lundin, security co-ordinator in Östra Göinge municipality, says:
– Co-operation between the police, the municipality and the emergency services was good. We could soon open Kulturhuset for people who were prevented by the police cordon from reaching their homes.
Regarding the object he says:
– It's dreadful, and it worries you. This kind of thing is happening all over the country just now, or has been lately. It isn't good at all. / It's a very bad thing.
The cordon was lifted at 7:30 pm on Saturday, when criminal investigations had been completed. The object will be examined elsewhere.
David Lundin refers to the police who are investigating the case.
– We know certain individuals with criminal connections who may possibly be behind this, but we can't say for sure, he says.
On Sunday the police were unable to say what kind of suspicious object it was.
