Most covid patients in hospital are immigrants
Last week there were 38 persons being treated in hospitals in Skåne for covid-19. Three of them were at Centralsjukhuset in Kristianstad (CSK).
Previously it was older patients who needed hospital treatment. Now patients are in the 45-50 age group. Most who have had to be treated in hospital have not been vaccinated.
In an internal document in Region Skåne it says that 'it is primarily a question of patients with a foreign background'. .The patients say that information about vaccination has not reached them, or else that they have not understood what they must do to be vaccinated.
The County Administration Board is going round in Skåne in an attempt to reach different groups in areas where the number of people vaccinated is low.
Among other places, they have already been to Kristianstad, and will be back again on 21st September at Gamlegården shopping centre between 1 and 4 pm.
It is difficult to send information by post to people who have not been vaccinated.
– We vaccinate through private actors. We don't know who are vaccinated, so it's difficult to notify people by post. And we're not allowed to co-ordinate any registers either, says Maria Landgren, vaccination co-ordinator in Region Skåne at a press conference.
– But we could perhaps send out pre-booked appointments to certain age-groups or in certain areas to be able to reach these groups.More people must be vaccinated. And not just young people, everyone under 40.
