More people infected – 20 per cent increase in Skåne

The spread of the coronavirus is increasing in Skåne. In the five municipalities in the northeast alone, there are 598 new confirmed cases since last week. In Skåne, there has been a 20 per cent increase in the number of positives (among all those who tested themselves).

– We need to continue to strictly adhere to the restrictions that apply and avoid new close contacts, to limit the spread of the infection, says Eva Melander, Infection Control Doctor at Region Skåne, in a press release.

Kristianstad municipality has the highest spread of infection in northeast Skåne. There, the number of cases last week increased from 312 new cases to 438 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The municipality that has managed best is Östra Göinge, but there the number of cases have doubled since last week.

Vaccination: Approximately 17 per cent of people over the age of 18 in Skåne (183,992 people) have received their first dose of vaccine. People aged 65 to 69 are next in line for a vaccination. They will receive a letter about booking a vaccination appointment.
