Miljöpartiet leaves the government
Sweden got its first female prime minister Magdalena Andersson (S), today. A few hours later the Environment Party (Miljöpartiet) resigns from the government.
The reason is that the Center Party (Centern) in a late stage changed their mind. C did not vote for this governments budget proposition.
C states as a reason that this government has written an agreement with the Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) and that the budget has made a ”left turn”.
That in turn resulted in that the Christ Democrats (Kristdemokraterna), the Moderates (Moderaterna) and the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna) got their changes to the budget through, that applied to 20 of a total of 1 200 billion kronor ( updated and correct numbers) in the state budget.
Among other a reduction of the petrol tax with 50 öre, a decision that does not benefit the environment, the Environment Party (Miljöpartiet) believes.
The decision means that the Parliament now have to come to a new agreement and decision regarding a new Prime Minister.
