Many urged for calm when Paludan burned the Quran

Behind the riot barriers and a ring of police officers, the Danish-Swedish politician Rasmus Paludan, burned the Quran outside a residence in the centre of Kristianstad.
Hundreds were present in the audience. Emotions were running high and there was heckling, but there were also many calls to remain calm.
A total of ten people were apprehended for disorderly conduct or risk of disorderly conduct.

In connection with Sunday’s demonstration, several individuals were apprehended pursuant to Article 13 of the Police Act, that is, for disturbing the peace. There were no riots.

Stram Kurs’s party leader was allowed to demonstrate for two and a half hours. He made every minute count.

A total of ten people were apprehended for disorderly conduct or risk of disorderly conduct.

One person threw stones at a police van.

– In addition, four reports have been filed – so far, says Patric Fors, Press Spokesman for the police.

One of the reports concerns a banger which was thrown, one regarding a hefty firecracker and another for violating the Knife Act.

Abdul Hadi Almesh from Kristianstad and Flamman from Malmö had diligent conversations with the people that were gathered.

– I was trying to stop all the young people and calm the Muslims down. The Quran is in our heart even if he burns it every time. We have to show that we appreciate our country, where we live, says Abdul Hadi Almesh.

Many people listened to the calls for calm and left the scene.

– People listen. Here in Kristianstad we know each other and are well-connected.
