Language café carries on with the help of Kb Mosaik
People who want to learn Swedish or practise speaking Swedish can do so at the language café, every Friday between 1:30 and 3 pm at the Kristianstad town library.
Kb Mosaik is a valuable teaching aid.
The newspaper is written in three languages, which helps us quickly to understand what is going on, and how we should use the words, says Maria Linmad, one of the students.
– We come up against lots of difficult words, but it's smart to compare the words with one another in the translated texts, she says.
You don't have to go to Sfi to be able to take part.
– This is an opportunity for a lot of new arrivals, or people who want to learn the language to develop themselves, to strengthen their knowledge of the language. They can talk freely here without feeling shy, says teacher Sura Mashat, with her colleague Lars Månsson.
Margareta Andersson, a volunteer teacher, says:
– The students here come from a wide variety of backgrounds and educational levels. Some are not afraid to speak Swedish, while others struggle with their self-confidence.
– I like giving them a bit of encouragement. And it is important to help with integration, which is no simple matter for everyone who comes here.
