”In my opinion, there is nothing to prove that he is guilty”Melka Kjellberg, defence lawyer
20-year-old Emilia Lundberg was found dead in the Vramsån in Tollarp on December 3rd, 2019. By then she had been missing for eleven days.
A 21-year-old resident of Tollarp, who was a childhood friend of Emilia, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has now been in custody for over ten months.
He has always denied any kind of wrongdoing.
Chamber Prosecutor Kristina Amilon writes in the indictment that the 21-year-old had already murdered Emilia Lundberg on November 22nd, on the same day that she was last seen.
The indictment states that the murder weapon was a sharp-edged object. The 21-year-old is said to have repeatedly cut and/or stabbed the victim over virtually the entire upper body. The victim suffered extensive wounds.
Emilia ended up in the Vramsån. She died from heavy bleeding but drowning may have also contributed to her death.
Several witnesses saw the 21-year-old and Emilia Lundberg together on the same day as the murder is said to have taken place. Several findings have also been made.
”They were childhood friends and hung out a lot, so it’s no wonder that people saw them together”Melka Kjellberg, defence lawyer
As evidence , there is also information from a mobile, a forensic medical report and an autopsy report.
The 21-year-old and his defence lawyer, Melka Kjellberg, have had the police's preliminary investigation, which is about 10,000 pages, since last summer.
– In my opinion, there is nothing to prove that he is guilty, Melka Kjellberg says to Kristianstadsbladet.
– They were childhood friends and hung out a lot, so it’s no wonder that people saw them together.
The murder trial will begin at Kristianstad District Court on Friday 23rd October.
