A lot of good is done in Gamlegården. But at the same time, the library is being forced to close. There has been drug dealing between the bookshelves there. There is also a shortage of staff right now. There is a sense of insecurity, mainly during the evenings. A lot of young people have a harsh tone towards each other.

”It’s a joint problem and we need to act both urgently and long-term”
Martin Thornell, Municipal Police Officer

– The way we see it, urgent action is required, we need a concerted effort immediately, says Chairman of the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, Radovan Javurek (L).

ABK and the municipality's security officers, together with the police will ensure that order is established.

– It’s a joint problem and we need to act both urgently and long-term, says Municipal Police Officer Martin Thornell.

”We know that we can succeed if we work together”
Ann Nordin, Crime Prevention Coordinator

Quick measures can be more surveillance, both with cameras and security guards.

Anna Nordin, Crime Prevention Coordinator, compares the situation to Charlottesborg earlier. There, collaboration brought results.

– We know that we can succeed if we work together.

Field secretary Malin Månsson also hopes for increased adult intervention, to get adults in the area to carry out safety patrols and be visible in the area even after shops and youth clubs have closed.

Sabina Månsson Hultgren (S), Vice Chairwoman of the Council, says:

– It's just like the pandemic. We can’t let go, it’s important to keep going and to persist with our cooperation.
