Following the alarm raised in Gamlegården: homemade bomb by a car

The police were alerted to a car park in Gamlegården at 9.56 pm on Sunday evening. Shortly before, a number of bangs were heard in the area.

A number of police patrols were visible in the area around Albogatan. A suspected explosive device was placed near a car and the area around the car was cordoned off. The National Bomb Squad was called to the scene.

– It seems to have been some sort of homemade object. It did not involve fireworks or bangers, says Robert Loeffel, Spokesperson for the police.

–The National Bomb Squad checked that the object could be handled safely so that it did not pose a danger to others, says Robert Loeffel.

The police are classifying the incident as attempted murder and destruction causing public endangerment. The police still had no suspects on Tuesday.

–We will now investigate why the object was left beside the car in question, says Robert Loeffel.

Nobody was injured in connection with the incident.
