Fireworks were sabotage against emergency services
Early last Tuesday evening many residents in Broby were surprised by loud detonations in central Broby. A lot of people were worried, just a few days earlier a suspected bomb had been disarmed by the National Bomb Squad.
Information from the police was that some young people had been letting off fireworks. The case was written off because it was impossible to confirm a crime.
Now, a week later, the police have made a report on sabotage against the emergency services.
According to the report, dissatisfaction was directed at the police. When a group of about 30 people saw the police, they became angry and attacked the police car. Police spokesman, Robert Loeffel, said the persons were masked.
The police patrol called for reinforcements but they were reported to have left the scene. Some of the persons are said to have followed them. Then the police were able to go back, but the group had split up.
The reinforcements did not need to go all the way to the scene because things had calmed down. Nobody was hurt, and no cars were damaged.
The police were unable to say why they first said that fireworks were involved and that they could not confirm that a crime had been committed. Nor could they say why a report on sabotage against the emergency services had not been made sooner.
Thomas Johansson, a spokesman for the police, says more information will be available later.
