Fatal accident on route 19 - cause of the accident is unclear
The accident happened at 7.20 am on route 19, off Bjärlöv. A lorry and two cars were involved in the collision. The lorry ended up in a ditch.
The emergency services sent several units to the scene, four ambulances were also dispatched.
Three people were taken to hospital by ambulance. At lunchtime on Monday, the police announced that a 55-year-old man, a driver of one of the cars, had died as a result of the accident. The man's relatives have been informed.
The cause of the accident remains unclear.
- We will investigate the accident. Hopefully, the investigation will provide more details about the accident, says Jimmy Modin, the police's spokesperson at the control centre in Malmö.
The accident caused a traffic jam and several police patrols were at the scene of the accident to redirect traffic within Bjärlöv.
Trafikverket (the Swedish Transport Administration) forecasted that route 19 would be fully accessible again at 1.30 pm.
