Experiment: New playground in Sommarlust: "Lives up to everyone’s expectations"
Lots of people have been involved and contributed to making ABK's new playground in the Sommarlust area happen. The children who live there have been involved themselves from the beginning.
ABK sent out a digital survey in autumn 2021 to children living in Sommarlust where they had to answer questions about what playgrounds should look like; they rated around a hundred different playground equipment with smileys.
- We had around fifty children who participated and answered a fairly extensive survey, says Jonas Rosenberg, Head of Communications at ABK.
The planning of the playground was based on those answers and was officially opened in a ceremony on Thursday with a hot dog barbecue and party.
It is Carolina Aouseus, Outdoor Environmental Coordinator at ABK, who designed the playground and worked out what the children wanted there based on their answers.
- We were actually able to live up to 95 per cent of all requests in this particular project. Climbing frames, swings and jumping equipment. We have pretty much ticked off everything that was at the top of the list, she says.
The target group for the playground is those aged from 2 to 12 years old and has everything from a cable line to climbing walls, and two house towers, which are painted the same colour as the houses that surround the playground. Beside it there is a bowling alley and a barbecue area where the elderly can hang out.
Henrik Strand, CEO of ABK, was also present during the opening ceremony. He was pleased with the result.
- We are happy that we have been able to achieve this. I really hope that it will contribute to great joy and last long, he says.
