Emmy spreads light in Vinslöv
This year's Lucia in Vinslöv, Emmy Persson, has dreamed of being Lucia since 2008, when her elder sister played the part.

Many municipalities and villages have stopped choosing a Lucia. But in Vinslöv there is a strong tradition, going back twenty years.
This year Lucia will be celebrated on two occasions in Missionskyrkan. The event will be broadcast live.

– We'll just have to make the best of the situation and look on the bright side. We can still stir up the spirit of Christmas for people, especially the elderly, says Emmy Persson.
In Latin, Lucia means ”the radiant one”. Lucia is an Italian saint. She was born in Syracuse on Sicily in the 280's AD, and became a martyr because of her Christian faith. In Catholic tradition she is the patron saint of the blind.
